The funeral for Thomas Wood, 36, of Upper Darby and vice president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Hells Angels, will be held Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:30.
Wood was killed last week while driving home from a Hells Angels party.
Coordinators and clergy are worried this might be the largest funeral they've ever seen, not only because Wood was a member of the Hells Angels, but because his mother was very well known in the community.
Downingtown Mayor Gary Galvin said "There will be significant police presence."
Police claim Wood was killed by members of the Pagans motorcycle club in a flareup of an ongoing war between the clubs. John LoFranco, president of the Hells Angels, East Coast, said in a statement released by his lawyer that his group is not planning retaliation for Wood's death, despite fears expressed by police.
"We do not know who killed Tommy, and we do not engage in retaliation," LoFranco said.
