Eighteen associates of the Vagos Motorcycle Club were arraigned Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court on drug-trafficking and gang conspiracy charges.
Tuesdays arrests are reportedly the result of a California Department of Justice investigation that started in April.
More than 20 search warrants were issued. Police reportedly seized drugs, illegal weapons 13 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, five of which are allegedly stolen and other property.
Four women were among those arrested Tuesday and police say more arrests could follow.
Police report that the Vagos is one of California's fastest-growing clubs and is allied with the Mongols MC and considered rivals of the Hells Angels.
Security at Thursday's arraignment was extremely high. SWAT members were posted throughout the public area of the Sacramento County jail and its courtrooms from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Small groups of Vagos members were escorted into the courtroom at different times to prevent any type of disturbance.
Police announced that $127,000 in cash was seized and large amounts of illegal drugs, including 100 pounds of marijuana worth $500,000, about a pound of methamphetamines worth $12,000, 250 tablets of Vicodin worth $625, 250 tablets of Oxycodin, and an unspecified amount of steroids.
Also seized were a large number of guns and property, including 18 pistols, six of which were stolen; three assault style weapons; five shotguns, including one sawed-off shotgun; eight rifles; a boat; and nine vehicles, including two Hummers.News is provided by the Outsider from various sources and posted on http://www.bikernews.net
