Two members of the Red Devils motorcycle club have seen charges against them dropped recently.
Gary Alves and Thorston Hisam, had charges against them dropped in a Louden court last week. The pair were arrested last month after a 2 year investigation of the Red Devils by an undercomver Fairfax detective.
The charge of carrying a knife onto the parking lot of Dulles International Airport on Alves was dismissed by General District Court Judge Dean Worcester. Alves still faces charges of participating in a street gang, assault of another club member, brandishing a firearm and concealing a weapon in an ABC establishment.
Hisam had a charge of carrying a concealed weapon into an ABC establishment dismissed by Worcester which leads those close to the investigation to believe that Alves may also see the charge against him dismissed.
The charges stemmed from a report that the men were carrying a concealed handgun in a restaurant. Judge Worcester ruled that the restaurant ban of concealed weapons is not enforceable.
Many people close to the investigation believe the men were arrested with little or nothing more than misdemeanors because the police believed the detective's cover had been blown. While police had little or nothing after two years of undercover work, they decided to try and get what they could on the men.
